SPLIT: Movie VS. Reality

"SPLIT" (2017) tells the story about Professor Xavier gone mad since he started to had enough of the X-Men's bull___, so he kidnaped 3 hotties. Wait. This isn't X-Men? But, he's Professor X! This is the problem when you had protrayed the role that gone so popular and people started to recognise you as that famous character such as Harry Potter, Jack Sparrow and this guy.

23 people in one people who have different name in one person, so I don't know what to call him from "SPLIT 2017"

Professor X from "X-Men: First Class 2011"

Let's start again. "Kevin James McAvoy" has been experiencing the mental symptom call DID, Dissociative Identity Disorder, also know as multiple personality since he was very young due to his abusive mom. He owned 23 personalities. GOD, 23 PERSONALITIES. Nothing much about the plot. Just 3 of his personalities, Dennis, Patricia and Hedwig, try to create something beyond human limit to prove that this disorder exist and to protect the host, Kevin, and themselves from the outside world. He, or they, use 3 girls as the sacrifice for the 24th identity "The Beast." The movie plays along with side story, the background of Casey Cooke, showing why this girl is "Pure"

!!!SPOILER ALERT FROM NOW ON!!! As mentioned, the plot is simple but interesting. Simple is the best. There are real facts in this movie. It is true that people view people with mental disorder inferior than them. And this movie pick out that flaw as the main point. "What if those with mental disorder are superior."

"The broken are more evolved."

- Kevin James McAvoy

We all know that he does not meant "physically broken." It is also true that the psychologist still arguing whether this symptom is real or it is just the imagination of the patient, It seems to be real in this movie though, because there is no proof of this disorder beside from the different characteristic in one person. The new personality usually created after the person have experience mental damage. That character is there to serve what the host lack of. This is why some people think it could be just the imagination of the person since he or she are in need of something to support them and creates new person within them. Anyway, it could be real or not real. Does not matter. The only matter is, like this movie, when "the personality" started to hurt other people. But unfortunately, this happened in real life. People kill unconsciously and notice what they have done with shock. These are the 10 famous cases happened in real life. CLICK

Dennis and Patricia along with help of Hedwig committed crime of abduction and murder without Kevin himself aware of it. He has no idea what he had done to these 3 girls and his beloved psychologist, Only one girl name Casey Cooke who was considered to be pure because she also got abused just like him. The beast consider a person pure or not base on whether that person got abused or mentally broken or not.

The end of the movie is what I consider as "Disjointed Narrative Structure." Why? It left a lot of questions for the audience to think. First, what will the beast do after this? Will Kevin has conscious again? What Casey is going to do to her uncle after she got sexually abused for many years and known she is no longer to kill anymore since this violence situation? Most importantly, who is the guy at the end mentioning Mr. Glass ? And, who on earth is Mr. Glass?! After I had finished the movie, I quickly ask god, google, who is Mr. Glass. He is from the movie called Unbreakable (2000) but even that he is not there, it does not there. He's there for what reason somehow I can't answer

The one common factor the characters share are the same director and theory about human body reaching its full potential. Still, there is no reason for him to be in the movie. It does not change anything. Personally, reaching full potential of brain and body could

The guy from Unbreakable who was there to mention Mr.Glass

be possible in SPLIT movie, not in reality. Kevin can become stronger and clever if the new personality means unlocking new potential, which mean he could unlock his brain potential from 10% like normal people to more than just 10% and muscle potential from 30% to above but not 100% of course, but not in real life. Even he can reach his ultimate human body potential, his skill like climbing the wall is not possible. Comparing to other animals that can climb the wall have special pad to climb the wall unlike human. Human's hand can only climb the object the hands can grab, like tree, but it was not designed to climb the flat wall. Anyway it is just theory and analysis. If you does not agree please tell me why. I'm more curious than Alice at this point. Now I am an active audience myself. Haha.

When it comes to movie analysis. James Mcavoy acting, it is impressive. He act out 4 personalities smoothly without making us feel clingy about that character. I can see the warm heart and caring homo man in Barry, Calm but deadly woman in Patricia, orderly man in Dennis. Actually Dennis has OCD, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. I have to admit it. This guy is so complicated he has multiple personality, which is a mental disorder and one of his personality, Dennis, also has mental disorder. MAN, THIS IS COMPLICATED. Personally, I see boy age around 14 in Hedwig. Not 9-year-old boy like the directer's intention. Anyway, this is good enough. If it was me, I would go beyond crazy having to play these many roles. It take a lot of time to become a character and leaving himself behind the camera. And, he became 4-5! Even most of the Joker's cast gone insane to get in to the character. I hope he is not having a problem time confusing who he actually is. Anyway, I personally, the trailer is more scary than the actual movie. The movie supposed to be thriller but it does provide enough thrilling. Not that the movie is bad. I have to admire the editor and the camera angle. There have done the great work on this one.

However, apart from analysing the movie, analysing what this movie could influence society is what i'm concern of. As I have mentioned in my previous blog ,media makes society view people with mental disorder as maniac. Now the movie show a beast! What would people think about people with multiple personalities now. There are the maniac but it does not mean that all of them are a maniac, a beast. And, not everything about this disorder is true even that there's a fact. We are living in hyperreality world. We must distinguish between what's for entertainment and what is real. It was meant for entertainment but people seems to be lack of knowledge in many way, making some os us fail to see the truth.
